Close Encounters and God’s Provision

I saw the truck.  I was slowing down to turn.  I thought he saw me.  I slammed on the brakes.

Thankfully the truck stopped.

There was no wreck that day.  There may have been shaken up nerves and a crushed cheez-it bag when everything shifted and my laptop fell out of the front seat.  But there was no injury to me or the driver of the truck.

The event was truly one that shook me to the core and started my day with an adrenaline rush. It reminded me of God’s faithfulness and provision in our lives.  Even though I was still in the process of trying to drive to work, I stopped to pray and thank God for the absolute safety he provided for me at that moment.

A worship song came on and reminded me again of God’s goodness.  God sent His Son Jesus, the ultimate sacrifice and act of true love.  Because of His sacrifice, He overcame sin and evil for good.  A promise was given to us that one day in Heaven there will be no more sadness, pain, or evil.  All will be perfect and meaningful.

“What He’s Done” - Passion Music (Click the title to hear the worship song for yourself.)

“See on the hill of Calvary

My Savior bled for me

My Jesus set me free

Look at the wounds that give me life

Grace flowing from His side

No greater sacrifice

What He's Done

What He's Done

All the glory and the honor to the Son

My sins are forgiven

My future is Heaven

I praise God for what He's done”

Just because I love God doesn’t mean I will be in a little bubble suit keeping me safe from everything that could happen.  I can’t live in fear that I’m going to almost run into a truck, because there may be another close call down the road.  Because I love Jesus, I trust that His ways are better than mine and I have faith that He will bring me through whatever I may face.  Let’s live today with faith, knowing that God has gone before us and is with us during each step or drive we may take.

Psalm 91: 14-16 - New International Version

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;

    I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

He will call on me, and I will answer him;

    I will be with him in trouble,

    I will deliver him and honor him.

With long life, I will satisfy him

    and show him my salvation.”
