Let it Go, Let it Go!
The snow glows white on the mountain tonight. Not a footprint to be seen. A kingdom of isolation, and it looks like I'm the queen. The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside. Couldn't keep it in, heaven knows I tried.
Don't let them in. Don't let them see. Be the good girl you always have to be. Conceal, don't feel. Don't let them know. Well, now they know.
Out of all of the Disney classics, Frozen is one of my all-time favorites. I’m a sucker for good music, and who doesn’t love the gentle themes of love, family, and fun? Frozen is and has been a favorite since the first time I saw it. I recently got to see it off-Broadway with my mom and two of my nieces and my love for it was reignited.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the movie, here’s a quick recap. (Also-please go do yourself a favor and watch it on Disney+.) When their kingdom becomes perpetually frozen, Princess Anna (pronounced Ah-na) has to enlist the help of a Moutaineer Kristoff and his trusty reindeer sidekick Sven to help find her sister Queen Elsa. They have to work quickly and together to help break her icy spell before it’s too late.
Now I know many Disney films have a love scene. Or two people fall in love and save the world as the movie comes to a close. While Frozen intertwines a little of that, this movie focuses on sisterly love. A close bond that truly can never be broken.
Princess Anna was courageous in her quest to go save Queen Elsa. When Elsa realized her own sister was in harm’s way and at risk of dying, her love for her sister was enough to thaw a frozen heart. In the movie, we see that the heart is not easily persuaded but true love can heal even the deepest of wounds.
Amidst the magical lights and sounds, I couldn’t help but wonder what am I concealing? What am I stuffing down so deep that it’s festering a wound and about to burst? I don’t know about you, but I’ve come too far in my healing journey to stop now. I want to feel. To embrace the emotions. To celebrate joys and grieve heartbreaks.
We weren’t meant to hold onto the things we go through. Yes, they were meant to shape us and mold us but not to hold us back from growing into the son or daughter we were meant to be.
I’m so thankful that God uses all of the pieces of our lives. Inside each of us is a unique dream or calling waiting to be told and shared with the world. There is a special power inside of us that can heal hearts. May we be ever so brave to share our dreams with those around us. The world is waiting.
It's funny how some distance makes everything seem small. And the fears that once controlled me can't get to me at all. It's time to see what I can do. To test the limits and breakthrough. No right, no wrong, no rules for me.
I'm free. Let it go! Let it go! I am one with the wind and sky. Let it go! Let it go! And I'll rise like the break of dawn. Let it go! Let it go! That perfect girl is gone.
Isaiah 43:2-5 NET
When you pass through the waters, I am with you;
when you pass through the streams, they will not overwhelm you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not harm you.
For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your deliverer.
I have handed over Egypt as a ransom price, Ethiopia and Seba in place of you.
Since you are precious and special in my sight, and I love you,
I will hand over people in place of you, nations in place of your life.
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
From the east I will bring your descendants; from the west I will gather you.
